Raymond Mae Robbins Jr., 84, of Statesville, N.C., passed away at The Greens at Maple Leaf nursing facility on June 6, 2024. He was born in Rock Hill, S.C., on November 16, 1939, to the late Raymond Mae Robbins Sr. and the late Wilma Cantrell Robbins.
He married his high school sweetheart and late wife, Patricia Campbell Robbins, in 1959. She passed away in 2022. He enlisted in the United States Army after graduating from East Mecklenburg High School in 1957. He was stationed in Germany as part of the armored brigade combat team (ABCT). He served actively until 1962 and with the Army Reserves until July 1964. Upon returning to the U.S., he attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill where he received a degree in Business Administration. He worked in the banking industry until the mid-1970s. He became an entrepreneur with his most successful business in the textile industry. In the mid-1990s he became a Pastor and worked with Helping Hands Ministries, making multiple mission trips primarily to Poland and the Ukraine. Raymond was very active with Grace Covenant Church and co-developed and was a primary leader in a program entitled Encounter Jesus.
He later provided pastoral care at Davis Regional Medical Center and was an active member at Trinity Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by two sisters, Lois Robbins and Susan Robbins; and a brother, Marty Robbins.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Karen Robbins Didow; his son, Raymond Scott Robbins (Tina); and his grandchildren, Michael Didow, Tyler Robbins, and Tristan Robbins.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
