Redia Mae Turner Gentry of Statesville, N.C., was born in Iredell County, on April 21, 1955, to the late Clarence Turner and Calgren Jackson Pearl Stevenson Turner. She departed this life unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Iredell Memorial Hospital at the age of 69,

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by nephew, Derrick Turner Sr., and great nephew, Derrick Turner Jr.

She attended North Iredell High School and worked at Iredell Memorial Hospital for over 25 years. After she retired from Iredell Memorial, Redia worked at CEENTA for five more years.

Redia was a long-time member of Rocky Creek AME Zion Church in Harmony, where she was a devoted usher and lead singer. She loved to sing, play games and watch the Cowboys. She was full of life. She was a very strong, stern woman who loved her family.

She leaves behind five children, Keith Gentry of the home, Vincent Turner of Maine, Michelle Gentry (Clifford Bellamy) of Statesville, Regina Gentry (Stacy Wilson) of Mooresville, and Cynthia Gentry of Statesville.

She also leaves 10 siblings, Jerry Turner (LaJune), Judy Turner, Lynn Turner, Jeffery Turner, and Dennis Turner, all of Harmony, Belinda Turner, David Turner, Steve Turner, and Ricky Turner, all of Statesville, and Angela Burton of Virginia; 14 grandchildren, Dantae Carson, Tyrell Gentry, T’Keyah Black (John), Shania Gentry, Clifford Bellamy Jr., Jasmine Wilson, Isaiah Mattox, and Jaylin Gentry, all of Statesville, Stacy Wilson Jr. of Mooresville, Jordan Perry, Teyanna Turner, Olivia Turner, Shayanna Turner, and Jerimiah Turner, all of Maine; eight great grandchildren; eight nephews; three nieces; and a host of cousins; and special friend, Linda Femister.

The family will receive friends at Rocky Creek AME Zion Church in Harmony on Monday, December 30, from 10:30 until 11 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Reverend Marcus Farmer will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
