Rhonda Lynn Newell Shumate, 56, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024. She was born on August 14, 1967 in Wythe County, Va.. She was the daughter of the late Charles Ray Newell and Shirley Ann Stanley Clyburn of Mooresville.

She attended George Wythe High School in Wytheville, Va. Prior to becoming disabled, she worked in manufacturing in the auto parts industry. Rhonda enjoyed surfing the internet for support groups.

Rhonda is survived by one son, Landon Ray (Whitney) Shumate; one daughter, Gretchen Renee Shumate (Tyler) Paul; one granddaughter, Adley Reese Shumate; her mother, Shirley Ann (Henry) Clyburn; and one sister and fiancé, Lisa Marie (Tony Brooks) Alley.

No services are planned at this time per Rhonda’s wishes.
