Richard Norman “Rick” Webb Sr., 80, of Statesville, N.C., died Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at his home after a lengthy illness.

Born in Broome County, N.Y., on February 15, 1944, he was a son of the late Theodore Webb and Ruth Harding Webb. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Chuck Webb.

He was a lifelong, master furniture upholsterer and was the owner/operator of Webb’s Upholstery until his retirement. He had a passion for real estate and owned several rental properties. He loved his family and his many pets and was an avid bird watcher. As a child, he had fond memories of fishing with his grandfather. On any given day, he could be seen enjoying The Andy Griffith Show, and would often be heard whistling the theme song. He loved playing chess and taught many in the family how to play the game.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eileen “Taft” Webb; two daughters, Tammie Scott of Statesville and Pam Burns (Joe) of Statesville; a son, Rick Webb Jr. (Christine) of Binghamton, N.Y.; a brother, Ted Webb II (Dolly) and two sisters, Georgie Thetga (Tom) and Cheri Clapper; and a special brother-in-law, Tom Neiss (April). Also surviving are grandchildren, Mark Gould, Jr. (Anna), Stefanie Byrd (Josh), Brian Hall Jr., (Stephanie), Travis Hall (Ana), Joey Webb and Amelia Webb, along with nine great grandchildren.
