Robert Earnest Sanders Jr., 70, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born February 7, 1954, in Fort Leavenworth, Kan., to the late Robert Earnest Sanders Sr. and Clara Irene Owens Sanders.

Bob worked for Wilson Security. He was also an honor guard and first responder for the Stony Point Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Robbie Sanders and Ruth Sanders.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Judy Diane Curtin Sanders; one son, Robert Sanders and wife Jeannie; one daughter, Charity Fortman and husband Daniel; and five grandchildren, Jordan Lippard, Eric Sanders, Katelyn Fortman, Chloe Sanders and Hunter.

A memorial service will be held on Friday July 5, 2024, at 5 p.m. at Northview Freewill Baptist Church, 112 Bethlehem Road, Statesville, N.C. Pastor Daniel Fortman will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be given to Stony Point Volunteer Fire Department.
