Robert “Bud” Henry Gassett passed away on October 24, 2024. Born on August 3, 1946, in Minnesota, Bud eventually settled in Park Falls, Wisconsin, where he met his beloved wife, Norma. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Park Falls before attending the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he earned a B.S. in Pharmacy and completed a Master’s/Residency in Hospital Pharmacy.
Bud’s career in pharmacy spanned seven states over 47 years, working primarily in hospitals but also in retail, long-term care, home infusion, and healthcare organizations. He retired as the Hospital Pharmacy Director at Davis Regional Hospital in Statesville, North Carolina.
For many years, Bud was an avid runner, completing three half-marathons and numerous 5K and 10K races, many of which he ran alongside his wife. His runs took him across the Golden Gate Bridge, along the levees of New Orleans, around Soldier Field in Chicago, by the banks of the Truckee River in Reno, on the track of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and up the iconic steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art made famous by the movie “Rocky.”
In retirement, Bud found joy on the golf course, achieving four holes-in-one in his lifetime. He was a member of River Oaks Golf Club, his favorite local course. Known for his humor, Bud would always say his favorite beer was “Koldnfree.” Beyond golf, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, known for letting his grandchildren have ice cream for breakfast—a tradition they will forever cherish.
Bud is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Norma Gassett; his daughter Karen Barton and her husband Steve, along with their children, Zach and Abby; and his daughter Sara Lloyd and her husband Chad, and their daughters, Maya and Anna.
Troutman Funeral Home is serving the family.
Bud was a wonderful golfing friend and we enjoyed many happy and fun days together on the course. In addition to teaching others the game of golf, he showed us how to be a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed.
