Robert Leak Smith, 83, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville.

He was born on February 2, 1941, in Lumberton, N.C., to the late Robert Leak Smith and Ada Louise Howell Smith Ellis. Mr. Smith was the former manager of Will-Via Hereford Farm in Mooresville for over 40 years. He was a member of the North Carolina Polled Hereford Association. He loved his family and spending time with them especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Gunter Smith; brothers, Bob Ellis, Bill Ellis, Roger Ellis, and Wayne Ellis; and sisters, Judy Ellis and Alice “Sis” Adcox.

He is survived by his children, Angela “Angie” Conner (David), Robert M. Smith (Kimberly), Randy G. Smith (Suzanne), and Gregory L. Smith (Sandy); grandchildren, Heather, Stormi, Savannah, Evan, James, Jake, Nolan, and Ryan; great grandchildren, Storm and Ayla; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Smith family is planning a private family celebration of life at a later date.
