Mr. Rodney Diaz Edgerton, 52, was born on March 1, 1972, in Statesville, N.C., to W. Lewis Clark and the late Pamela Dawn Edgerton. Angels were dispatched to bring him home to be with his mother on March 27, 2024.
Rodney was a graduate of Statesville High School with the Class of 1990. He was employed with Toter in Statesville for six years. Rod never met a stranger and was loved by all that knew him. He had the uncanny ability to make people feel good on their bad days with his crazy laugh and sheepish smile. You, my son, will never leave my heart.
He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Pamela Dawn Edgerton; grandparents, Alberta Clark and Willie Frontis, and Blondie and Albert Edgerton; uncles, Ronnie Howell, Keith Howell, Kenneth Edgerton, Rickey Edgerton, and Tony Wellman; and his aunt, Donna Howell.
He leaves to cherish the memory of his life his father, W. Lewis (Bonnie) Clark; one brother, Lenard Cowan of Statesville, N.C.; three sisters, Lisa Lazenby of Charlotte, N.C., Nikki Lazenby of Detroit, Mich., and Latoya Barber of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one brother/cousin, Trace Clark of Atlanta, Ga.; cousins Neesie Williams, AJ Edgerton, Chris Edgerton, KoKo Edgerton, Stephanie Richards, Anthony Wellman, Emily Wellman, and Rosetta Watts; uncles, Joe Howell (Dad #2) of Statesville, N.C., Jimmy (Sheila) Howell of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Steven L. Howell, Albert Edgerton and Jack Wellman; aunts, Kokeeta Edgerton of the home, Phyllis Clark of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Mildred Howell of Winston -Salem, N.C.; nieces, Jania, K’naria, Lashia, Kadeya, Khalani, and Khalilah; nephews, Rashawn, Chrishawn, Devon, Dwayne, DaQuan, Eric, James, Gregory, and Isaiah; and godsons, Hakeem Diaz Edgerton and Jabari Dawn Edgerton Williams.
Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 12 noon at Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Philadelphia United Methodist Church Cemetery, Stony Point, N.C.
