Ronald Harold Metty, 84, died on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville, N.C., surrounded by his loving family.

Ronny was born on March 2, 1940, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Earl Harold Metty and Margaret Schaefer Metty. Ronny retired from Delta Airlines with his Pan Am Seniority of 39 years. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Mooresville, where he sang in the Celebration and Sunday Choirs. He was proud of his signing accomplishments and the albums his singing group recorded. Ronny loved to read his Bible and collect books with most being first editions. He enjoyed his book club at Barnes & Noble. Ronny was also into fitness and health and always enjoyed taking walks. He loved his family and spending time with them, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth Metty and Arthur Metty.

Ronny is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Russo Cervini Metty; his daughter, Dawn Mastrandrea (Frank) and their children, Erin, Anthony, Vincent; his daughter, Veronica Gonzalez (Jose) and their children, Joey, Todd, and Faith; his daughter, Cynthia Metty; stepson, Celestino Cervini (Jill) and their children, Vincent Cervini (Hannah), Vanessa Cervini, and Dominic Cervini; stepdaughter, Carol Cervini-Wong (Allen) and their son, James Cervini (Gabriela) and their children, Sofia and Damian Cervini; stepdaughter, Helen Mavellia (Wayne I) and their children, Juliana Mavellia and Wayne Mavellia II; stepdaughter, Rose Schoendorf and her children, Joey Schoendorf and Alexa Schoendorf and her daughter, Kehlani Baylor; sister-in-law, Linda Metty; and nephews, Kenny Metty and Brian Metty.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 6, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, at St. Therese Catholic Church with Rev. Mark Lawlor officiating.
