Ronald James Oldaugh, 77, of Advance, N.C., passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024, after an extended illness. He was born September 5, 1946, in Rose Center, Mich., to the late George Oldaugh and Evelyn Burke Oldaugh.

Ron graduated from Holly Senior High School in 1965. He worked as a test driver for General Motors Proving Grounds. He retired in 2006 after 27 years working as the General Manager for Lee Spring Company in Greensboro, N.C. He loved to travel, camp, ride horses and motorcycles. When he was no longer able to do those things, he could be found watching his favorite TV shows, Andy Griffith, Gunsmoke, or a good boxing match. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Phyllis Johnson; two brothers, Charles and Duane Oldaugh; one daughter, Jennifer, and son-in-law William Tracy.

Survivors include one son, Kurt Oldaugh (Liz) of Randleman, N.C.; three daughters, Deborah Sokolowski (Kurt) of King George, Va., Tracy L. Tracy of Advance, N.C., and Gina Goulding (Phil) of Oak Hill, Fla.; two brothers, Dennis Oldaugh of Alpena, Mich., and Edward Oldaugh of Flint, Mich.; five grandchildren, Joseph Oldaugh of Advance, N.C., Andrew and Matthew Sokolowski of King George, Va., Sam Dunn of Jefferson, Ga., and Jake Dunn of Decatur, Ga.

There will be a graveside service Wednesday July 3, 2024, at 4 p.m. at Love Valley Presbyterian Church. Pastor Bill Bates will officiate. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. at the church. The family would like to give a special thank you to neighbors Ray and Gayle Parker, special niece Joanne Allen, Hospice of Iredell County and Dr. Pam Sholar. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
