Ronald Leroy Eckert, 88, of Denver, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. He was born on August 30, 1936, in Flushing, N.Y., to the late Edward and Gladys Dodge Eckert.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Eddie, Bob, Charlie, Shirley, and Ella; and a grandson, Shawn Eckert.

Ronald was a member of River Life Fellowship in Mooresville and was a 1954 graduate of Jamaica High School. Ronald enlisted in the Army in 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1960. He then spent the next 40 years at Texaco, from where he retired in 1993. Baptized in 1987 as a Christian with his wife, he moved from New York to North Carolina, where he spent the remainder of his life enjoying woodworking, auto mechanics and racing, and was very active in the community. He enjoyed serving in the church, especially on mission trips. He was the sole survivor of all his siblings. Ronald loved his family and will be greatly missed.

Those left to cherish Ronald’s memory are his loving wife of 66 years, Gail Kleinschmidt Eckert; children, Kenneth Eckert (Nancy), Dennis Eckert (Tina), and Diane Pino; grandchildren, Daniel Eckert (Julie), Erica Campbell (Tyler), and Jordan Pino; and great grandchildren, Edith Ann Eckert, Millie Jean Eckert, David Campbell, Jon Campbell, and Noel Campbell.

Services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the local community church of your choice.
