Ruth Adabell Messina, 91, of Mooresville, N.C., went to be with the Lord on December 22, 2024. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 8, 1933.

Ruth was a proud member of Ohio Order of the Eastern Star, an organization based on charity, truth, and kindness, demonstrating her character both inside and beyond the organization.

She was preceded in death by her father, Fred H. Bartley; her mother, Ruth W. Bartley; and her husband, Joseph Messina.

She is survived by her son, Joseph M. Messina; her daughter-in-law, Kimberly A. Messina; and grandchildren, Christi L. Messina and Joseph R. Messina.

Ruth was the definition of a strong independent woman. She remained loyal and devoted to Joseph Messina (husband) even after his passing in 1970. Her love for him never faded. With confidence, it’s safe to say that they are together again for eternity. Even when faced with the loss of her husband, she never blinked an eye when it came to raising her son. Through the actions of Ruth, her son (Joseph) learned what unconditional love, hard work and commitment are. Even when things got rough, she was never one to back down. Ruth left a legacy that will forever live on through those who had the privilege of knowing her.

A visitation will be held. Family will receive friends and family from 2 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home & Crematory, located at 494 E Plaza Drive, Mooresville, N.C. A Memorial Service will follow at 3 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Glenwood Memorial Park, located at 273 Glenwood Drive, Mooresville, N.C.
