Ruth JoAnna Daniels Creedmore, 103, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at the Gordon Hospice House.
Ruth was born on March 16, 1921, in Iredell County, N.C., the daughter of the late Flake and Martha Southers Daniels. She attended Central and Scotts High School. Ruth went on to marry her husband, Ralph Austin Creedmore, who passed away in 1997, after 57 years of marriage. She was an active and faithful member of Hebron Baptist Church, where she served as a children’s teacher, treasurer of her Circle, and member of the Prayer Warriors Sunday School class. Ruth was known for her love of gardening and sewing and was a child of the Depression, who learned the art of canning and frugal living. She worked as a seamstress at Bucknit and Brenton Textiles.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was the last of ten children. Her brothers were Lawrence, Herman, Dwight, Wade, Grady and Ollie Daniels. Her sisters included Marie Cheek, Louise Creedmore and Faye Hartness. Also preceding Ruth in death was an infant son, Ralph Austin Creedmore Jr.; granddaughters, Stephanie Rector Brooks and Julie Frederick; and son-in-law, Alan Williams.
Those left to cherish Ruth’s memory include her children, Barbara Williams, Brenda Vinson, Norman Creedmore (Peggy), and Jane Frederick (Jim); grandchildren, Rick, Ted and Todd Williams, Kim V. Jackson, Susan V. Romine, Stephen Rector, Christy R. Georgeson, Stacy C. Crozier, Howard Frederick and Denise Diedering; 26 great grandchildren; and seven great, great grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends on Sunday, August 4, 2024, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Hebron Baptist Church in the Fellowship Hall. Funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. with Rev. Darren Johnson officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
