Sallie Odessa Marie Rankin Adams, 88, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024.
Sallie was born on March 9, 1935, to Jesse Lee and Lillian Shuford Rankin. She was educated in the Iredell County school system. She was united in marriage to Ted Adams on November 8, 1953, and they were blessed with three children.
In addition to her parents, Sallie was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ted, and a grandson, Clinton Adams.
In 1974, Sallie dedicated her life to Jehovah God and became a part of the Mooresville congregation of Jehovah Witnesses, and from that time on she spent as much time as possible helping others appreciate the truth found in God’s word, the Bible. For many years she served as a pioneer in the congregation, spending up to 70 hours a month in the field ministry. Most of her working career was spent working as a CNA at Lowrance Hospital and then Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in Mooresville. She enjoyed getting to know and helping many in the community.
Survivors include her three children, Derek Adams (Carolyn), Chris Adams (Debbie), and Jewel Adams, all of Mooresville; two special cousins that were like her sisters, Ann Winford of Troutman and Marie Harris of Kannapolis; grandchildren, Chris Adams Jr., Latasha Adams, Devin Adams, Georgetta Howie, Jared Adams, and Christian Adams; seven great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Gretchen Hall of Mooresville; brother-in-law, Jerry Campbell (Sadie) of Statesville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 20, from 12 to 2 p.m. with a service following at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Brother Jerry Wright officiating. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park in Mooresville.
