Salvador “Sal” Dominguez, 88, of Mooresville, N.C., and Hilton Head, S.C., died on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
Sal was born on May 4, 1936, in Irun, Spain, to the late Salvador Dominguez Dominguez and Domitila Cabezas Gomez during the Spanish Civil War. He attended school in Spain before studying aeronautical engineering at New York University. He eventually found his calling as a programming manager, working for a chemical process research and development firm in Manhattan, N.Y. He retired in 1999 to spend time with his children.
Sal loved his family. He also loved his dogs, wine, traveling, watching soccer (especially Real Madrid), Sudoku, Chess, dancing, listening to all kinds of music, watching birds, and being the life of any party he attended.
Sal was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Carmen Nieves.
He is survived by his spouse, Alice Schulte; his children, Joseph Dominguez (Tiffany) and Cristina Dominguez (Grey); and grandchildren, Piper, Millie, and Cielo.
A Celebration gathering will be held on Friday, August 2, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.
