Sharon Ann “Sha” Hunter McCullough, 69, of Statesville, N.C., died Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Iredell Memorial Hospital after a period of declining health.

She was born in Iredell County on November 23, 1954, to the late James G. “Babe” Hunter and Mildred Woods Hunter. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, James Pete Hunter and Milton “Peanut” Woods, and a sister, Regina Hunter.

Sha was a retired quality control inspector and earned her degree in Early Childhood Development. She always enjoyed entertaining folks with cookouts and meals. She loved going to Walmart, spending time with her grandchildren, and watching Westerns.

Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Brandi Hunter; two grandchildren, Ajaya Brooklyn Blackwell and Bryson Khaleel Hunter; a great-grandson, Karter Zyhir Blackwell; a brother, Howard Hunter; and nieces and nephews, Whitney Ray, Brett Woods, Missy Woods, Treva Woods, Fred Dobbins, James Dobbins, Calvin Dobbins, Brian Dobbins and Brittany Dobbins.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 2 p.m. in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Brett Woods officiating. Burial will follow in Belmont Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
