Sherry Lynn Elliott Haag, 73, of Statesville, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 30, 2024. Born on November 13, 1950, she was the wife of the late Michael James Haag, who passed away on March 6, 2019, and the daughter of the late Neal Gilbert and Joyce Gilleland Elliott. She was a 1969 graduate of South Iredell High School.

She retired from International Paper as a Customer Service Representative. Sherry was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church, where she was active in teaching Sunday School, Children’s Church, working in the church nursery, and gospel street ministry. She enjoyed crocheting, water aerobics, swimming, music, and playing the piano. She was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Nicholas Haag and Alyssa Harris.

Sherry is survived by two sons, Edward (Jennifer) Haag of Charlotte and Adam (Laura) Haag of Raleigh; two daughters, Stephanie Harris and Sarah Haag, both of Statesville; and three grandchildren, Christopher Haag, Tiffany Smith, and Ridley Haag. Also surviving are two sisters, Kathy Billings and Barbara Hope, both of Statesville, and two brothers, Danny (Sybil) Elliott and Barry (Donna) Elliott, both of Statesville as well.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church in Statesville with Rev. Randy Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in the Troutman Historical Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 1 until 2 p.m.
