Shirley Kay Walker LeVan, 85, of Hiddenite, N.C., passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Autumn Care Statesville following a brief illness. Shirley was born August 27, 1939, in Alexander County to the late William Fred Walker Sr. and Arnell Warren Head.

She was a member of Faith Temple Church and had a daycare. She enjoyed painting as an artist.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee LeVan; one son, Daniel Lee LeVan; and one brother, William Fred Walker Jr.

Survivors include four sisters, Frances W. Levan of Hiddenite, Linda W. Hall and husband Gary of Oregon, Nancy W. Childers of Taylorsville, and Tammy Head Canter of Hiddenite; three grandchildren, Damian LeVan of Stony Point, Drew Vinson and husband Bryant of Hiddenite, and Danika White of Charlotte; and three great-grandchildren: Dominick, Deja, and Charlotte.

A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 4 p.m. at Hiddenite Cemetery. Rev. Luke Greene will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service at Chapman Funeral Home from 3 to 4 p.m. Memorials may be given to Chapman Funeral Home for the Shirley LeVan Fund, 158 Stony Point School School, Stony Point, NC 28678.
