Dolores “Sissy” Elaine Potts Shew, 74, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2024, at her home. Sissy was born on December 9, 1949, in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Doctor Graham Potts and Nancy Benfield.

She began her career as a nurse at Iredell Memorial Hospital, later owned Old Fashion Cleaning Service and retired from East Middle School as a data manager. She was a member of Hebron Baptist Church. She loved cats, chickens, and planting flowers. She also loved spending time in her mountain house.

She is survived by her husband, Roger Shew; a daughter, Stacy Shew; a son, Wesley Shew (Tina); a brother, Tony Potts (Libby); and five grandchildren, Alec Baldwin, Ryan Baldwin, Kole Baldwin, Lillian Shew, and Sayde Shew.

The family will visit with friends on Saturday, March 9, prior to the service from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. at Hebron Baptist Church with Rev. Darren Johnson and Steve Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
