Spencer Hanks Jr., 62, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He was born September 9, 1961, in Petersburg, Va., the son of Spencer Hanks Sr. and the late Barbara Jean Hanks.
Spencer worked as a floor technician at the Brian Center, from where he retired.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Vivian Sha-Nae King, and a sister, Linda Hanks.
In addition to his father and his step-mother Ruth Hanks, those left to cherish and honor his memories include his wife, Cathy Hanks of the home; his son, Quantaey Lewis Hanks of Statesville; his daughters, Desheika Onae Graham (Ketwan) of Statesville, Tiffany Washington (Derrick) of South Carolina, and Janell McDonald of Statesville; his sister, Karen Hanks Davis; his grandchildren, Marteka, Jason, Damarius, Kaleyah, Icesis, Jasmine, K’Naria, Malik, Jazyon, Jazari, Quantavious, Promise, Paris, Zariah, Zayden, Devaris, and Derrick Jr.; his great-grandchildren, Zakiyah, Jenesis, Jacey, Tony Jr., Lucas, Tobias, Nigeria, Norah, and an unborn bundle of joy on the way; special friends, Charles Grant, Eric Mull, Mark Mull, and Freddie Joyner; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will conduct a Celebration of Life Service at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Whole Truth Church in Statesville. Bishop Ralph Wood will officiate. The family will gather at 165 Brentwood Road, Statesville, N.C.
