Thomas “Tommy” Michael Fox, 65, of Cleveland, N.C. died peacefully on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury, S.C. He was born in Iredell County, N.C., on April 6, 1959, to the late Franklin Delano Fox and Linda Rowe Fox Riddle.
Tommy worked as a glass cutter for 20-plus years at O W Slane Glass in Statesville, where his gift of perfection was able to shine. He enjoyed the outdoors, waterskiing, played the drums, and was an avid NASCAR fan. Most of all, he cherished his relationships with friends in the community. He tragically lost his home in 2020 to a fire but was able to build back with help of many in the community who rallied around him.
Then, in May of 2023, Tommy was diagnosed with lung cancer. He underwent treatment at Novant Wallace Cancer Institute in Salisbury and was responding well. Unfortunately, after a recent hospital procedure, Tommy caught a serious infection which took his life.
Tommy is survived by his sister Susan Zongker (husband Randy) of Charlotte, N.C., brother Dennis Fox, of Charlotte, N.C., and stepparents, Don (Hoppy) and Barbara (Bobbie) Riddle of Statesville, N.C.; and nephews James Fox and Jason Fox.
A Celebration of Life Service is planned for Saturday, August 10, at 11 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 149 New Hope Road, Statesville, N.C., with fellowship following.
Donations can be made to Tommy’s favorite charities: St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
Nicholson Funeral Home is honored to serve the Fox family.
