Tommy Lee Hartsell, 86, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Atrium Health in Charlotte, N.C. He was born January 4, 1938, in Gaston County to the late Warren Lee Hartsell and Sarah Elizabeth Hart Hartsell.
Tommy was a computer engineer for Duke Energy (formerly Duke Power Co.) for 33 years before his retirement. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a graduate of Mt. Holly High School. Tommy was a member and Past Master of Mooresville Masonic Lodge #496 AF & AM, a member of the Eastern Star and Oasis Shriners. He enjoyed photography, traveling, and going to the casino. He never met a stranger and enjoyed sharing a joke or quick story with everyone. Tommy was a generous and helpful man to all he knew. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Geraldine “Geri” Simon Hartsell; children, Bryan Hartsell and wife Lourdes, and Sharon Childers and husband David; grandchildren, Christine Hartsell, Kristen Dalton (Joe), Sean Hartsell (Seiko), Matthew Hartsell, Corey Childers, and Logan Childers; and great-grandchildren, Torren Bumgarner, Cole Valliere, and Penelope Dalton.
A visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, February 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home and Crematory. A Celebration of Tommy’s Life will be held at a later date in the summer and will be announced by the family.
