Wilfred “Trey” Lewis Barkley III, 17, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Monday, December 9, 2024, at his residence.
Trey was born May 24, 2007, to Wilfred Lewis Barkley II and Jodi Lynn Barkley. He was part of the Agriculture and Science Early College program. He was an active member at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church; he especially enjoyed working in the sound booth. He was a member of the JROTC. He loved fast cars, music, spending time in Michigan with his Papa and Deedee, and hanging out with his two best friends, Aidan and Rhys. He loved being silly with his brother and was a hot sauce connoisseur. He was always very thoughtful, caring and polite. He wanted to be a Marine just like his dad and pursue a career in construction management.
In addition to his parents, those left to cherish his memory are his brother, Caleb Barkley; grandparents, “Papa” Robert Lewis (Diane “Deedee”); aunts and uncles, Lewis Barkley (Charity), Corie Jordan (John), Pike Jordan (Dawn), and Eric Lewis; fur babies, Cooper and Chase; best friends, Aidan and Rhys; and the many extended friends who were more like family and loved him as such.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, December 13, at 4:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, officiated by Rev. Dieter Punt. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tourette Association of America, 100 Grove Road, Suite F, West Deptford, NJ 08066.
Troutman Funeral Home is serving the family.
