Virginia Gail Smith, 83, of Mooresville, N.C., passed peacefully in her sleep on December 23, 2024. She was born July 21, 1941 in Mooresville and was the daughter of the late Pearl Gray Sloop and Bernice Thompson Sloop.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, William Scott Smith, brother, Gary Sloop, and sister, Gloria Ervin.

Those left to cherish her memories are her sister, Lynda Malcom (Bill); son, Brian Smith (Susan); and her eight grandchildren, twins Brittany and Whittney, Zach, Gracie, Justin, Drew, Isabella and Moses; as well as ten great grandchildren and many friends.

Gail worked as an office administrator, and later in life she went back to school and became a CNA. She retired at the age of 75. She enjoyed crocheting; you could find her most days in her living room chair creating something beautiful to give to people. On Sunday mornings, you could find her taking in a sermon and highlighting Bible verses. Sunday afternoons she spent watching football or NASCAR, which she also loved.

Services will be held at Tripplett Church on Saturday, December 28, at 2 p.m.
