W.C. Edwards, 69, of Statesville, N.C., died Monday, September 23, 2024, at the Gordon Hospice House after a lengthy illness.

At an early age, W.C. was baptized at Shiloh Institutional Baptist Church. He worked as a construction worker and was good at it. He also worked for the City of Statesville until he was unable to work. He still worked doing odd jobs and helped anyone that needed his help. W.C. had a big heart.

W.C. and I met in 1995, and we decided to get married in 1996. Time flies so fast; it doesn’t seem like 28 years.

W.C. leaves to cherish his wife, Betty Dobbins Edwards, of the home; a daughter, Ieshia Banks of Charlotte N.C.; a son, Baby Sir; step-son, Lawrence Dobbins; stepdaughters, Renya Springs and Shaquawn Ramsey, all of Statesville North Carolina; grandkids, Marquis, Marquez, and Reginae Banks, all of Charlotte, N.C.; sister, Callie Edwards of Charlotte, N.C.; sister-in-law, Mary Edwards; and a host of grands, and great-grand kids, nieces and nephews in Statesville and Charlotte.

W.C. was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Edwards and Sadie Crawford-Jackson; two sisters, Marcella Tate and Cathy McDonald; and a brother, Phillip Edwards.

A funeral service will be held Monday, September 30, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kay Presbury officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.

Nicholson Funeral Home is honored to serve the Edwards family.
