William Nathan Steele, 40, of Statesville, N.C., who was known as “Pooh Bear,” passed away unexpectedly on September 5, 2024, at Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. William was born in McDowell County, W.Va., on November 30, 1983, to the late Donald Steele and Karen Roberts of the home.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beth Stanley; two brothers, Matthew and Jamie Steele; three Uncles, Bud Harless, Riley Roberts, and Elisha Jr. Roberts; maternal grandparents, Alice and Elisha Roberts; paternal grandparents, Elisha and Geraldine Steele; and one step-brother, Bobby Steele.

Survivors include two daughters, Shayla and Kaylynn Steele; two brothers, Billy Steele and wife Cindy, and Denny Ray Steele and wife Deidra; one stepsister, Melissa Steele; three aunts, Polly Roberts and husband Leo, Ruth Ann Harless and Reedy Roberts; two uncles, Roy Roberts and wife Gail, and Donald Duck Roberts and wife Helen; special cousins, William Stipes and wife Jennifer, and Alicia Cates and husband Shermaine; two nephews, Zachary and Dalton Steele; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
