William “Bill” Wilson McAlister, 84, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024, at the Gordon Hospice House. He was born in Iredell County on May 13, 1940, to the late Archie A. McAlister and Evelyn Covington McAlister.

Bill graduated from Troutman High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 until 1962. He married his wife, Nancy Lee Clarke McAlister, on September 3, 1962. Bill worked at Foster Utilities and operated Parkers Lake until his retirement. He loved all sports but favored fishing, the Atlanta Braves, softball, and the Hickory Crawdads.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred P. McAlister and Charlie M. McAlister, and a sister, Mildred E. Moore. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Lee Clarke McAlister; two daughters, Natalie H. Carter (Joey) and Renéé Russell (Daniel); a son, Michael McAlister (Annette); two brothers, Milton McAlister and Melvin McAlister (Brenda); a sister, Joyce Rogers; a brother-in-law, Jimmy Moore; and an aunt and uncle, Nancy and Jimmy Covington. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Beulah Heights Wesleyan Church, 108 Emmanuel Road, Troutman, NC 28166 with Rev. Trent Patterson officiating. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Michael McAlister, Renéé Russell, Natalie Carter, William McAlister, Colby McAlister, Brandon Vestal, Tyler Jarvis, Jesse-Lei Angelisanti, and Dan Russell.
