Barbara Ann Bowman, 75, was born in Etowah County, Ala., on December 12, 1949, to the Hazel Ann Bowman. She passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, at her residence.
Barbara Ann Bowman, affectionately known as “Bobby,” was born in Etowah County, Ala., on December 12, 1949, to Hazel Ann Burke and James Constantine. She entered into her eternal rest on Monday January 27, 2025. She was preceded in death by her father, James Constantine, and her mother, Hazel Ann Burke; one daughter, Wanda Bowman Culbreth; grandmother, Lizzie Turner; three brothers, David Burke, Willie Burke, and William Burke Jr.; one sister, Joyce Burke; one great granddaughter, Laila Chambers; one nephew, Perry Burke; and special friends, Lloyd Shaw Turner and Joe Kearney Jr.
Barbara attended Iredell-Statesville Schools and received her General Educational Diploma (GED) In 1996. She was a machine operator for 30-plus years with several companies, including Beaunit, Burlington Industries, Mack Molding and Mocaro Industries. Her true passion was the love that she showered on her family and friends. She was always there to provide a hot meal and a place to stay for anyone in need.
She nurtured and cared for a large and extended family, whom she leaves to cherish her memory, including one son, Bradley (Shante) Bowman of Yadkinville; three daughters, Pammy (Jason) Davenport of Statesville, Angela Bowman of Statesville, and Ashley Bowman Green (Darryl) of High Point; two sisters, Patsy Bowman and Alicia Burke Rayton; two brothers, Rayford Burke and Tony Burke; one sister-in-law, Jonsie (Willie) Burke; seven nephews, Montel Burke, Brandon Burke, Michael Burke, Derrick Inman, Colby McDowell, Tim Bines and Enrico Heggins; seven nieces, April Bowman, Gabrielle Burke, Tiffany Ellison, Cherelle (Oerry) Burke, Lakiesha Burke, Tanisha Heggins and Bridgette Teasley; six bonus sons, Gonzlee Culbreath, Shawn (April) Simpson, George Wiltbanks, Joshua (Yolanda) Hart, Tyrone (Dana) Speller and Anthony Caldwell; lifelong friends, Gwen Hastings and Constance Chambers; and a special cousin, Gwen Hill.
She fiercely loved her grandchildren Shakita Bowman, Layeka Bowman, Katisha Bowman, Kevin Turner, Rick Chambers, Anthony Caldwell, Jatavius Bowman, Craig (Brittany) Dulin, Geneva Caldwell, Nathanael Green, Arley Green, McKenzie Holmes, Nakayla Murdock, TyAsia Bowman, Bradley Bowman Jr.,Tyashon Johnson, Zaniyah Bowman, Masiyah Bowman, Aszhura Bowman, Zhari Torbert, TyQuez Bowman and Breshiya Smith; great grandchildren, Sha”Kiya Bowman, Sha”Laya Ward, Lauren Chambers, Iyvia Chambers, Ly’reek Chambers, Ly’mir Chambers, Juelz Bowman, De’ijha Thomas, D’avion Thomas, Destiny Bowman, Da’vaija Thomas, Denovee Thomas, Tae’Shawn Williams, Elisha McDowell, Jaiel Caldwell, Jaziel Ozious, Zai’vion Johnson, Joscelyn Johnson, and Jada Hopkins; great-great grandchildren, Dessiah Ky’ir, Kenneth Scott, and Leilani Hopkins; and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at 2 p.m. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Pastor Lonnie Harper will officiate and burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery.
