Boyd “Bill” William Mullis Jr., 77, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, in Statesville, N.C. He was born on April 30, 1947, in Mecklenburg County to Boyd William Mullis and Wanda Juanita Stutts Mullis.

Bill served in the United States Army for 20 years and later went on to work for himself as a brick/stone mason, general contractor, and landscape grading contractor, as well as woodworking. He was an avid weapons collector, and he shared this expertise by working as a concealed carry instructor for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Caroline Suddreth.

Bill is survived by his wife of 38 years, Patricia Graham Mullis of Statesville; daughters, Kimberly Kelly Mullis of West Hollywood, Calif., Cherrie Dawn Welch (Chris) of Winston-Salem, N.C.,, Susan Renee Townsend (William) of Stormville, N.Y., and Terry Lynn Graham of Statesville; grandchildren, Adam Heller and Madison Townsend; and brother, Larry Eugene Mullis (Carol) of York, S.C.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 12, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 13, at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Bill Troutman officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Salisbury National Cemetery.
