Brenda Weisner, 76, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on the morning of January 14, 2025, surrounded by family, after a battle with a severe bacterial infection. Born on August 15, 1948, in Statesville, N.C., Brenda was a beloved teacher, mom, Grandmama and friend and was an active member in her many communities.
She taught fifth and sixth grade for 28 years in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and continued to teach part time following her retirement in Iredell-Statesville Schools. Her passion for teaching and helping others followed her through the decades of her retirement. Brenda was active in leadership roles at Williamson Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was president of Circle 3, organized the annual Festival of Tables, played handbells, directed weddings, and volunteered in the church office.
Brenda and her husband Tony were married for 56 years. They shared a love for travel, dancing and spending time with their family and friends. They had their oldest daughter Tonja in 1971 and soon after built their dream house on Lake Norman. They completed their family on Christmas Eve in 1974 with the birth of their youngest daughter Nicole. Brenda adored her eldest grandson Daniel (Tonja) and three granddaughters, Bailey (Tonja), Ashley (Nicole), and Hannah (Nicole). She never missed a graduation or big milestone in their lives and bragged about them constantly to her friends.
The only thing Brenda loved almost as much as her family was a good party. Brenda and Tony had a beautiful home that they opened to everybody. From family reunions, to wedding receptions, to fireworks off the pier on the 4th of July, everyone was welcome. Brenda welcomed her children and grandchildren’s friends and significant others with open arms and was like an adopted mom and grandma to many that knew her.
Brenda lived her life, especially in retirement, to the fullest. She and Tony traveled across the United States in their RV and visited many countries and continents around the world. Brenda and Tony also shared a lifelong love for dancing. They square-danced and later shag danced, and Brenda was a teacher and avid part of the line dancing community in their part-time home in Naples, Fla. Brenda was her happiest on the dance floor, relaxing on the beach with a good book, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Brenda was preceded in death by father, George Galliher, and mother, Belma Galliher.
Brenda is survived by husband Tony; daughters Tonja (Marc) and Nicole (Bo); grandchildren Daniel (Lindsay), Bailey (Patrick), Ashley (Cameron), and Hannah; and great grandchildren Wyatt, Walker, and Emmett (Daniel).
