Carlton Parker “Pete” McClelland was born in Iredell County on September 14, 1942, to Carlton Parker McClelland Sr. and Elizabeth Laura Gray McClelland. He entered into eternal life on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Levine and Dickson Hospice, Charlotte, N.C.
Pete was a graduate of Morningside High School and a graduate from A&T State University. He served in the United States Army, and was a member of the 5400 Club. Pete was a dump truck driver for Blue Max Trucking Company.
He leaves to cherish the memories of his life three children, Tracy Gray, Carla Gray Hargrove (James), and Dana Gray Sr.; seven grandkids, Cody Gray, Shanice Moten (Preston), Darius Gray, Amerisha Dobbins, Patrice Tucker, Caleb Babson, and Dana Gray Jr.; eleven great grandchildren, Ta’Ari Stockton, Malayjha Mauney, Brianna Moten, Oliver Tucker, Airyhan Davenport, Chloe Babson, Royalty Gray, Malaya Gray, Sherri Moten, Braylon Gray, and Legend Gray; two great great grandkids, Promise Stockton and Amyri Wood; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Rutledge and Bigham on Saturday, April 26, 2025. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Reverend Dale Williams will deliver the eulogy. Military Rites will be at 2 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home.
