Corey “Sam” Lawrence Caldwell, 49, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, in Charlotte. He was born in Iredell County on April 18, 1975, to Ronald Allen Caldwell and Brenda Darlene Gillespie.
Sam was of the Christian faith and graduated from Statesville High School in 1994. He worked for Tesla in Salisbury and loved motorcycles.
Sam was beloved by many, many people. He is survived by his parents, Ronald and Brenda Caldwell; brother, Reggie Caldwell (Julia) of Statesville; sisters, Chenedra Caldwell and Wendy Jones, both of Statesville; nephews, Coby Caldwell, Robbie Brown and Treyvon Brown; niece, Shaneka Brown; several great nephews and great nieces; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins; and special friends, “Disco” Stovall and Mickki Lackey. Another special friend, Daven Allison, preceded him in death.
A memorial service for Sam will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 3 p.m. in the chapel at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. Pastor Michael Gillespie will officiate.
Donations may be made in Sam’s memory to organizations that provide emergency medical services for the less fortunate.
