Cynthia Dawn Elkins Galliher, 61, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at her daughter’s home in Alexander County, N.C. Born on Monday, December 30, 1963, in Iredell County, Cindy made a profound impact on the lives of many during her time here.
As a teacher assistant for the Iredell-Statesville School System, Cindy was known for her nurturing spirit and commitment to the educational development of her students. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, particularly relishing her role as a Nene. She found joy in watching her grandchildren grow and thrive, leaving behind treasured memories that will forever warm the hearts of those she loved.
Cindy was a member of Cross Point Church, where her faith played an integral role in her life. Her friendly and welcoming demeanor made her a favorite among peers and church members alike.
Cindy found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed trips to the beach, camping adventures, and the exhilarating freedom that came with riding motorcycles – activities that allowed her to share unforgettable experiences with her family and friends.
Cindy leaves behind her loving mother, Inez Elkins, and her father, Larry Elkins. She is also survived by her three daughters, Brooke Gatton, Hope Johnson (Brandon), and Courtney Bruce (Chris), as well as her cherished grandchildren, Jaxson Gatton, Maddilyn Gatton, Hendrix Bruce, and Charlie Johnson. She is also remembered fondly by her brothers, Eddie Elkins (Mary) and Stephen Elkins (Marie); Pawpaw Todd Galliher; her boyfriend, Frank VanOver; and a number of nieces and nephews who will forever hold a special place in their hearts for her.
Cindy is proceeded in death by her granddaughter, Paisley Price.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, January 20, 2025, in the Alexander Funeral Service Chapel at 4 p.m. The family will gather with friends after the service. Pastor Chris Meade will officiate. Inurnment will be with the family.

I was very shocked when I heard about Cindy passing; when I met her, she was a very nice lady and I loved talking to her. She will be missed. RIP Cindy until we meet again.
