Cynthia Lynn Thomas, 69, of Hickory, N.C., passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. She was born on July 25, 1955, in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, the daughter of the late Charles Whitt and Jane Johnson Whitt.
During her career she worked as a coordinator for Christianity Today Inc., also as a librarian and travel agent. She volunteered at the Danada Equestrian Center in Wheaton, Ill., and was a member of the REGAP of Illinois, a greyhound rescue group, where she and her husband both volunteered and participated in various greyhound activities. She enjoyed being a potter, avid book reader, making greeting cards, spending time with her grandkids ,and walking her dogs. Most of all, she was a loving mother to Evan and Linsey, and grandmother to Brandon, Kingston and Aiko.
Those left to honor and cherish her memories include her husband, James “Jim” Thomas; her son, Evan Thomas; her daughter, Linsey Thomas; her grandchildren, Brandon Thomas, Kingston and Aiko Berry; her sister, Christina Fortune (Andy); her brothers, Douglas Whitt (Cynthia), and Charles Whitt (CC). Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Hickory, N.C., and Illinois at a later date, Check the website for celebration details.
