Derrick Barron Arnold, 72, was born in Bluefield, W.Va., to the late Rufus Jerome Heaggans Sr. and Juneava Maxine Arnold Culbreath. Wilford J. Heaggans and Sylvia Heaggans Young, both of Statesville, also preceded him in death.

He worked as a custodian for the Rowan County School System, from where he retired. Derrick will truly be missed.

He leaves to cherish the memories of his life his siblings, Leonard Heaggans (Mary) of Troutman, Rufus J. Heaggans Jr. (Annette), Beverly T. Heaggans and Lesia (Curtis) Pearson, all of Statesville, Gonzlee I. Culbreath (Rosetta) and A’an R. Culbreath (Veronica), both of West Virginia, Timothy Culbreath (Kaye Kaye) of Texas; Leonard N. Culbreath (Sharon), Richard A. Culbreath (Viola), George C. Culbreath, and Daniel L. Culbreath; and a host of other uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, N.C. Rev. Timothy Porter, pastor, will officiate. Visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. with burial to follow in the Mt. Tabor Church cemetery.
