Derrion Shenay Gibbs Scott, was born in Iredell County, on July 8, 1966, to the late William “Smoky” Gibbs and Peggy Robella Holmes Gibbs. She departed this life on Monday, February 10, 2025, at her home.

She was employed with the Iredell-Statesville School System, where she had a teaching certificate with Statesville High School. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Community Baptist Church. 

A step-granddaughter, Ashley A. Scott, preceded her in death. 

In addition to her husband, Charles “Chucky” Scott Jr., she leaves to cherish and remember her life her children, Jessica Christine Gibbs of Winston-Salem, N.C., Erykah Charmaine Gibbs of Statesville, N.C., Malcolm Xavier Adams of Davidson, N.C., Amanda Michelle Lee (Tyric) Dulin and William Ray Clarke, both of Mooresville, N.C.; her siblings, Devry Thomas Gibbs of Statesville, N.C., Michelle Denise Gibbs of Fort Mill, S.C., and Suprena Danette Gibbs of Statesville, N.C.; a brother-in-law, David Scott of Philadelphia, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Barbara Scott of Philadelphia, Pa.; and a host of other relatives, cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Rutledge and Bigham on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 2 p.m. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2 p.m. and the service will start at 2 p.m. with Reverend Bill Kirkland, who will bring the eulogy.
