Donald Eugene Merritt Sr., affectionately known as “D’Boy,” 92, of Stamford, Conn., passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 26, 2024. He was born on September 28, 1932, in Greenwich, Conn., to George and Isabelle Irene Lucas Merritt.

He was preceded in death two brothers, Wesley Merritt and Leonard Merritt; a sister, Olivia French; and a daughter, Arlene Olivia Merritt.

He attended the Mason Public Schools and honorably served his country with distinction in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart Award.

He is survived by his wife Mrs. Tanya Merritt; three daughters, Hershellar Merritt, Lorraine Merritt and Patricia Merritt; and two sons, Donald Merritt Jr. and Kenny Merritt. He is further survived by one brother, Mr. William Irving Merritt Sr. (Ora) of Statesville, N.C. Further, he is survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

A funeral service with Full Military Rites will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 11 a.m. at The Stamford Church of Christ, 1264 High Ridge Road, Stamford, Conn.
