Donald Victor Wilson, 83, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville, N.C.
Donald was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., on February 18, 1941, to the late Godfrey Theodore Wilson and Margaret Elizabeth Sprague Wilson. He served in the U.S. Army from 1962 until 1965, and he attended Marshall University. He married Ella Frances Board Wilson, who preceded him in death. After 30 years in sales, he retired from Western-Southern Life Insurance and then helped his daughter with her business, Groomtime. He loved dachshunds, watching the West Virginia Mountaineers, NASCAR (especially Bill Elliott), and the Carolina Panthers!
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Donna Jean Wilson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Debbie Jakielski (Paul); granddaughters, Jaydon Brunson (Karleigh) of Charlotte, Mathilda Frank of Asheville, and Dinnen Frank; sister-in-law, Catherine Burford (Doug) of West Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 24, at 2 p.m. at Troutman Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 until 2 p.m. A private burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with full military honors.
