Dorothy Rose Dalton Bennett, 73, peacefully passed away surrounded by her closest family on Sunday, March 2, 2025, in Statesville, N.C. She was born on April 3, 1951, in Statesville to Otto Dalton and Ina Carson Dalton. Dorothy attended Unity High School and worked at the Brian Center of Statesville and as a personal housekeeper.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; son, Donnell Bennett; brothers, Willie Dalton and Johnny Dalton; sister, Edna Dalton; and sister-in-law, Pattie Cassell (Richard).

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, David William Bennett of Statesville; son, David Ellison of Statesville; daughters, Kimle (Todd) Dalton of Statesville and Jessica Burton (Bryan) of Troutman; grandchildren, Latisha Dalton, Todd (TJ) Sturghill (Keshara), Jaylin Bailey, and Jamiah Scott, all of Statesville; great grandchildren, Chattney Dalton, Kamari Dalton, Justice Sturghill, Tahj Sturghill and Trace Sturghill; brothers, Landus Dalton (Patsy) of Troutman and Keith Dalton of Statesville; sisters, Patricia Dalton of Mooresville, Kathy Walker (Jorge) of Statesville, Karen Jones of Salisbury, Edith Patterson (Kevin) of Statesville, Cindy Hannon of Troutman, and Tewanna Davidson (Darryl) of Statesville; and special friend, Iretta Stiltner.

The family will receive friends during a quiet hour on Saturday, March 15, from 1 until 2 p.m. at The Altar of Lake Norman, 188 Wiggins Road, in Mooresville. Mrs. Bennett’s memorial service will immediately follow, beginning at 2 p.m.
