Earl P. Tucker Jr. walked into glory and the presence of his Savior on February 26, 2025, at the age of 87. A native of Statesville, N.C., Earl was the eldest child and only son of the late Earl Pressley Tucker Sr. and Grace Steele Tucker.

Earl and his wife Dorothy Jarvis began their life together when they eloped to South Carolina in February 1961. After returning to Statesville, Earl and Dorothy reared two children.

Known as a hard-working man, Earl spent much of his career in the trucking industry as a driver and a mechanic. As a driver, Earl drove more than a million miles in the days before the Interstate system was fully in place. He ended his working career with the N.C. Department of Corrections.

A 1956 graduate of Statesville High School, Earl was a proud veteran, serving six years in the U.S. Army. His service included two years of active duty and four years in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Carrying on his memory and carrying forward his legacy are his son, Robert Forest Tucker and wife Donna of St. Augustine, Fla., his daughter Suzanne Tucker Boggs and husband Chris of Matthews, N.C., and his four granddaughters, Kirby Tucker, Shelby Tucker, Taylor Boggs Pleiman and Emma Boggs.
