Eva Millsaps Coley, 94, of Stony Point, N.C., passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C. Born on January 2, 1931, in Alexander County, she was the third of 10 children, the daughter of the late James O. Millsaps and Ella Harrington Millsaps.
Eva worked for Hickory Springs for over 30 years and was a member of Linney’s Grove Baptist Church. She loved to work in her garden and in her flowers. She also had a greenhouse that she enjoyed. She loved her family especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband of 51 years, Thomas Alexander Coley; her daughter, Susan Denise Coley; her son, Mickey Wayne Coley; her sisters, China Millsaps and husband Robert, and Agnes Millsaps; her brothers, Kirk Millsaps (Nelda) and Jimmy Millsaps (Dorothy); her brothers-in-law, Thurston Childers, Alton Coley; and her sister-in-law, Doris Coley Beam.
Those left to cherish and honor Eva’s memories include her daughters, Sandra Coley of the home, Diane St. Clair (Todd) of Hiddenite; her grandchildren, Thomas Alan Coley, and Mickey St. Clair (Madeline); her great-grandchildren, Chevy Coley, and Jack and Henry St. Clair; her sisters, Loree Childers, Carol Gwaltney (Ron), and Hilda Gwaltney (Jay); her brother, Dale Millsaps; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Fairview Baptist Church in Statesville on Highway 21. Pastor Scott Eanes, Pastor Curt Miller and Pastor Paul Hill will officiate. Burial will follow in the Stony Point Methodist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
Pallbearers include Brent Millsaps, Todd St. Clair, Rick Gwaltney, Jay Gwaltney, Mickey St. Clair, and Conrad Millsaps. Honorary pallbearer: Alan Coley.
