In loving memory of Gaynelle Bowman Lancaster:
Gaynelle, a devoted mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025, at the age of 79. She was a beacon of warmth, kindness and selflessness, always putting the needs of others before her own.
Born on February 10, 1946, in Taylorsville, N.C., to the late Roscoe Daniel Bowman and Nellie Mae Pennell Bowman, Gaynelle dedicated her life to nurturing those she loved. Her home was always filled with laughter, comfort, and an open door for anyone in need. She had a generous heart, and a deep love for the family that made everyone feel special. She found happiness in the simple moments – cheering on her loved ones in all their endeavors and making even the most ordinary days feel extraordinary. Her strength and compassion were unwavering, and she taught by example what it means to love unconditionally.
She is survived by her husband, Hubert Cowell Lancaster; daughter, Dana Lancaster-Kelly (Robert Kelly) of Florida, and their daughter, Emerson Kelly; son, Daryl Coley Lancaster, and his children, Hannah, Gracie, and Sophia Lancaster; son, Daniel Cowell Lancaster, and his children, Jessica, Jared, Joshua, and Nadia Lancaster; sister, Linda B. Lancaster (the late Melvin Lancaster); brothers, the late Charles Bowman and Dr. Kivette Bowman, who will continue to carry her love and light in their hearts.
Though she is no longer physically with us, her spirit will forever be present in the kindness she instilled in others and the countless lives she touched.
A private family Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 5.
Rest in peace, Gaynelle. Your warmth will never fade, and your love will live on in all of us.
Troutman Funeral Home is honored to serve the Lancaster family.
Worked years ago with Gaynell in the furniture industry. She became a dear friend and we shared many memories together. She truly loved her family and I’m sure she will be greatly missed. Sending love and prayers to all of you.
