George Huie Brown, 85, of Union Grove, N.C., passed out of this existence and into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 24, 2025, in Statesville, N.C. He was born on September 22, 1939, in Iredell County and was the last surviving child of the late James Asbury Brown and Rose Nell Huie Brown McCollum.

George was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 60 years, Nancy Norman Brown; his precious infant daughter, Buffy Mae Brown; his two brothers and two sisters; and his stepfather, Nelson McCollum.

While he was a very quiet man, he was always listening and learning. George also loved animals and gardening. He would pick Nancy a fresh flower whenever something new would bloom.

George was a wonderful father and always made sure his growing family was well provided for.

He leaves behind to carry on his legacy his three sons, George Huie Brown Jr. and wife Susie of Oklahoma, Joey Brown of Harmony, and Jackie Brown and wife Mary of Louisiana; three daughters, Beverly Brown of Mississippi, Tammy Smith of Harmony, and Pamela Cooke of Charlotte; 16 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. He will also be sorely missed by his fur baby, Chico.

The family will hold a private service to celebrate and honor George’s life.
