Helen Childers Mecimore, 89, of Taylorsville, N.C., went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at Valley Nursing Center. She was born March 28, 1935, in Alexander County to the late Charlie Childers and Essie Chapman Childers.

Helen worked for Carolina Glove Mill for 40 years. She was a member of Little River Baptist Church for over 70 years. There are many things she loved, camping at Ocean Lakes, socializing with her friends, shopping, and her church, but most of all she loved her grandchildren, especially her great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rayford “Bud” Mecimore; her sisters, Lorene Elder, Hazel Teague, Margie Cavin, Betty Hubbard, Marie James, Wilma Chapman, and Cecil Herman; and her brothers, Ralph Childers, Fred Turner Walker and Doris Childers.

Those left to cherish and honor her memories include a son, David A. Mecimore, and his wife Darlene; two grandchildren, Jamie Smith and her husband James, and Josh Mecimore; great-grandchildren, Ella Rae Smith and Anderson Smith; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Little River Baptist Church. Rev. Jeff Chapman and Dr. James Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Adams Funeral Home.

Pallbearers include Darren Rogers, Terry Foxx, Tim Fox, Jeff James, Terry James and Marty Cavin.

In addition to flowers, memorials may be made to Millersville Christian Academy.
