Jack Hayes Compton went home to be with the Lord at his home on Sunday March 23, 2025, at the age of 93. He was born on August 28,1931, to William Everett Compton and Margret Cook Compton.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa and great-great grandpa. He worked for 37 years at the Burlington Cascade plant until it closed and continued working at Aeroquip until retirement. Papa Jack loved working with wood. He could build anything. He loved his B Westerns and he could name every one of the cowboys in every movie. Jack would sit and talk for hours with anyone who would listen. He enjoyed the outdoors and gardening with his wife.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Margret Pressley, Jean Kerr, and Gaynell Hendren, and brother, Rogers Compton.
He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Billie Nelson Compton; children, Robert Compton and wife Debbie, and Jackie Maclay and husband Keith; three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
Papa Jack will be deeply missed but we cherish his memory and are so lucky to have had him for so many years.
Per Jack’s request, there will be no services.
