Jamie Leigh Poole McDonald, 62, of Statesville, N.C., fought a courageous battle with cancer that began in 2020, and Christ settled the score on January 7, 2025. Jamie was a native of Iredell County, born to the late Ray Alexander Poole and Peggy Nixon Poole of Troutman, N.C.

Jamie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. A lifelong caregiver to her family, she worked for Shoney’s, Celeste Henkel School, and Sackner Products before becoming disabled. She was a member of Troutman Church of God and took great pride in caring for her loved ones.

In addition to her mother, Jamie is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Duane Wesley McDonald. She was the proud mother to four children, Duane Wesley McDonald II (Raven) of Statesville, Joseph Poole of Kentucky, Crystal Ann McDonald of Sylva, N.C., and Jessica Poole of Troutman. Jamie is also survived by her brothers, Sydney Poole of Kentucky, Barry Poole of Salisbury, Allan Poole of Troutman, and Roger Poole of Mooresville; and her sisters, Nancy Vanhoy of Faith, N.C., and Donna Nixon of Cleveland, N.C.; as well as six grandchildren, with one on the way.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 11 a.m. until 12 noon at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home in Statesville. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home beginning at 12 noon with Pastor Bill Troutman officiating. Interment will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens in Statesville.
