It is with deep sorrow, yet with unshakable hope, that we announce the passing of Janice Dempsey, who went home to be with the Lord on January 25, 2025, at the age of 82.

While we grieve our loss, we rejoice in the assurance that Janice is now in the presence of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, forever more. A funeral service for Janice will be Friday, January 31, at 2 p.m. at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Agee officiating.

Survivors include her son, Van Dempsey; his wife, Ashley; her grandchildren, Madeline and Jackson Dempsey; her brother and sister-in-law, Don and Linda Heath; as well as her niece and nephew.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Larry Dempsey, and her sister, Patricia Ledbetter.

Janice was a member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Anniston High School, Class of 1961, and attended Jacksonville State University, where she met Larry Dempsey. Janice lived a life full of love, kindness, and devotion, not only to family and friends but, most importantly, to the Lord. Her faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior was unwavering, and it was that faith that defined every aspect of her life.

Janice believed that Christ, the Son of God, was sent to save the world from sin and death, and that through His death, burial, and resurrection, all who believe in Him are granted eternal life. Through her life and actions, Janice proclaimed the gospel of Jesus Christ. She knew that salvation is a free gift, offered by God’s grace alone, and that no one can earn or deserve it. It is only by faith in Christ’s finished work on the cross that anyone can be reconciled to God. With her life, Janice encouraged everyone to repent and trust in Christ, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

NIcholson Funeral Home is serving the family.
