Jerry Steven Blackwelder, 78, passed away on March 23, 2025, in Clemmons, N.C.
Born on June 1, 1946, in Statesville, N.C., Jerry graduated from Statesville High School before continuing his education at the University of North Carolina. He spent most of his career working at Quality Oil Company before transitioning into real estate after retirement. As a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty, he had the joy of working alongside his wife, Sandra Somers Blackwelder.
Jerry had a deep love for classic cars and cherished attending car shows with his grandson. He was an avid fan of the Carolina Tar Heels and found great joy in watching their games. Music was another passion of his, particularly the timeless sounds of Motown classics.
He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Azmi; his grandson, Jacob Lunt; his brother, Kent Blackwelder and his wife Denise; and his brother-in-law, Steve Somers and his wife Donna. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandra Somers Blackwelder; his niece, Lisa Elledge; his sister, Jane Abernethy; as well as his parents, Lewis Wilson Blackwelder and Anne Weston.
Jerry’s generosity, kindness, and love for family and friends will be cherished by all who knew him. His wit and laughter brought joy to many lives, leaving behind memories that will be treasured forever.
A Celebration of Life honoring both Jerry and Sandra will be held on March 29, 2025, at Rose Chapel United Methodist Church in Statesville, N.C. The services begin at 11 a.m. will take place at Rose Chapel United Methodist, 813 Turnersburg Hwy 286.
