Jestene H. Templeton, 97, of Millers Creek, N.C., passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at her residence.

Jestene was born in Iredell County on August 22, 1927, to the late Perry Davis Holland and Gertrude Goforth Holland. She was a graduate of Union Grove High School, where she was awarded an academic scholarship to Lees McRae College. She worked in training and personnel at JP Stevens in Turnersburg for more than 30 years.

She was an avid reader, and she read over 100 books last year. She also enjoyed cooking and gardening.

In addition to her parents, Jestene was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Talmadge Templeton, and her sister, Ozelle Shaver.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Dr. Bradley D. Templeton (Greta); granddaughter, Julie Templeton Call (Scotty); grandson, Davis Banks Templeton (Anna); great grandchildren, Isabella, Roman, Bennett, Nathan, Blake, and Cole; one niece, one nephew, multiple cousins, and caretakers.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 23, at 3 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin York officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m.

Flowers will be accepted, or in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 145 Mount Vernon Church Road, Olin, NC 28660.
