Jimmy “Jim” Albert Taylor, 89, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at the Gordon Hospice House. He was born in Davie County on June 30, 1935, to the late Henry A. Taylor and Ethel Childers Taylor.

Jim was the owner and operator of Taylor Furniture Company for 30 years, alongside his wife Carolyn and son Jeff. He was a member of Monticello Methodist Church, where he served for many years. He loved his church and his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Carolyn Doby Taylor, to whom he was married to for 48 years.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 17 years, Brenda Campbell Yates Taylor; daughter, Rene Crowder (Philip); son, Jeff Taylor (Ronda); Brenda’s children, David Yates (Kelly), Darrin Yates, Dana Patrick (Charlie), and Sam Hyde (Anna); sister, Ann Gillis (Fred); grandchildren, Erica Stevenson (Seth), Stephanie Burch (Alex), Logan Taylor (McKenzie), Erin and Ben Yates, and Zachary, Eli, and Jacob Patrick; and great grandchildren, William, Evan, and Owen Stevenson, and Noah Taylor.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 7, at 2 p.m. at Monticello Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Jeff Coppley, Rev. Jill Rhinehart, and Chaplains Charlie and Dana Patrick. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Iredell County, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625, or Monticello Methodist Church, 308 Island Ford Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
